Research interests

Tone Berge has a Master and PhD degree in Biochemistry from the Institute of Biosciences, University of Oslo, and a post doc within Immunology from Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo. Since 2010, Berge has been heading research projects within the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) research group at Oslo University Hospital. Berge’s main focus is to use molecular immunology technology to get mechanistic insights into disease mechanisms behind MS. Berge and her students are performing molecular studies in selected immune cells to understand the biological significance behind MS susceptibility genes identified through global “omics” approaches. She is furthermore involved in national and international networks identifying and analysing biomarkers for disease progression and medication response. Berge is Head of Section – Neuroscience Research Unit at the Department of Research and Innovation, Division for Clinical Neuroscience, Oslo University Hospital and has currently a 20% Professor position at OsloMet.
